Thank you for your post about recruiters. I have been a Systems Technician for 10 years. 99% of my experience came between the years of 2000 to 2007. From that time on till now I’ll have to spare the details. But my point is that during that time I sent my resume out, seemingly 100′s of times. never getting any interest, then one day in spring of 2009, I met a gentleman who worked for wachovia. So after briefly getting to know me and that I was a Tech, he gave me contact info. and said he knew people. I thought cool, so I go home and send out my resume form 2007 no changes to work history, no added key words or anything. This is the same resume I sent to recruiters all the time. Dude at “wachovia” sent my resume to on of these recruiters. The same group I was sending the same resume to, quickly responded. Proving that they don’t read resume’s very well and are “Buy-able”. Nor do they care to get to know who they’re “selling”. I received e-mails and phone calls and later that evening I got to thinking, ‘Why now?’ and realized “Dude at wachovia” was very influential. Then I became a little infuriated and my e-mailed and slightly intoxicated response was “Are you kidding? for years I have been sending you guys my resume for job I was perfectly qualified for and now because “The Dude said so” not because I worked extremely hard to live and learn this career field or because of my accomplishments and the ones still to come. Damn.

and that was that never heard for anybody again. However now in 2011 this Tuesday I have a meeting with the same group. This time is different they contacted me because of me and my resume and a single email that came from me. Currently I am actively seeking employment in a large company, getting new certification’s and am attending ITT for the all important B.S. degree and plan to handle this meeting more professionally. Any tips on how I should handle this?
